The Brand: Epik
The Mission:
I was contacted by one of my mentors, Christianne Brooks, to jump on the preliminary stage of a project she was handed.
She needed a full Brand Vision Identity for a Kids' Reward Program named EPIK. A gift card-based program that would be targeting kids and their achievements. It needed to be fun, colorful, and quick…
The Process:
Christianne sent me a couple of images of what she discussed with the clients, a few neon-colored book covers, and some vintage rock posters. I understood that the colors and the energy were what she was going for.
I took the mood board to the next level and then got to work.
The Identity:
After a few directions and design development, we settled on this dynamic and very playful logo derivated from the font Axis.
The Palette:
We knew we wanted colors, and color-blocking, which means, we needed to have enough choices to play around with juxtaposition, and gradients. We ended with 6 vivid colors, going from primary red to neon green, passing by warm and cold variations of the rainbow.
The Fonts:
Axis is our Logo Font and therefore imposed itself as the Primary font. A robust sans-serif type by Jean Wojciechowski and free for commercial use. We added Poppins, the trusted sans-serif google font, for secondary option, perfect for web compatibility.
The Photography:
The imagery here is extremely preliminary, but the vision is a filtered grey-scale photography of happy quirky kids, next to straightforward product shots and color gradients.
The sky is the limit here, as I can imagine illustrations take an easy spot in the mix too.
Product Development:
The gift cards are the only Product per se. Which is limited, and at the same time, absolutely endless when it comes to creative graphic design. Here are a few leads.
Prints:
Finally, we were asked to create a few original prints to use on cards and other mediums.
